Keteleeria Formosana Hayata 


 It’s the oldest plant in the garden. It belongs to the Taiwanese pinaceae. It is also the few existing plant from the glacial period. We call it the living fossil as the animal or plant in the old times, because it can be traced back to the ancient time.

Asplenium nidus L. 

The outline of the Asplenium nidus L. looks like the nest, so it is also called fern of nest. The shape of its leave is different from the one of the normal fern. It is specific because it looks like ? that can be found in its leaflet.

 

 

Quisqualis Indica

Iris Tectorum Maxim.

Lagerstroemia subcostata 

 

This plant in the garden has a split and hollow trunk with foxy and gray-white color and the plant usually draws people’s attention. It belongs to the big tree whose leaves fall accordingly. In autumn, its leave turns red. There is no leave on the tree in winter.

 

Lotus 

It’s the herbaceous plant and it lives in water. Its stem grows from the water land with horizontal bud, which is the so-called lotus root. Its leave is in the shield shape with stem in the middle, which can grow to 150 c.m. or above. Its spire floats with the water and grows above the water when it matures. Its pink flower is the most common one, while there are also red and white. The down conical thalamus in the middle of the flower is the lotus awning. The lotus seed is the combination of the fruit and seed of lotus, which is a kind of nuts. After shucking the lotus seed, we can see its seed in brown color with film. The lotus seed we see in the market is the seed without seed coat or the cotyledon of the green germ.

 

Anas platyrhynchos(Mallard) 

The male mallard is a little bit bigger than the female. The male mallard has a yellow-green beak, orange-yellow feet, a shine jasper head and neck, and white ring on the neck. It also has a brown back, chest, and lower neck. It has a tail with crinkling black feather. It also has a gray- white belly and waist. Its wings are purple-blue. The female mallard has an orange-yellow beak with black spots, orange-yellow feet, a brown body with dun strips, and brunet eye lines. Unlike the female mallard, the male mallard has feathers, not for breeding. However, its tripe in the father of its back is not very clear.
